This is what it feels like when trust turns into friendship

We spent three days with Maria and Răzvan in Criț, and honestly, it didn’t feel like work for a single second. From the very first hug, it was like we’d known each other forever. They didn’t treat us like “the photographers” — they trusted us enough to just be there, in the middle of it all.

Most of the time we just let things happen. We were there to witness, not to direct. Only here and there, during their portraits, did we step in. The rest? Pure life. Their first look had us crying behind the cameras, portraits had us laughing until our cheeks hurt, and at some point we ended up dancing with them like we were part of the family.

That’s the thing — they made us feel like we belonged. And when that happens, the photos are different. The films are different. Because it’s not just about documenting what happened, it’s about living it with them.

When it was all over, we didn’t pack up and leave with just pictures. We left with a friendship. With two people who let us in so deeply that we’ll carry them with us for a long time.
